Module 6 Description
In addition to designing, building, and teaching the flipped course course, instructors should also consider how they will evaluate a course and use that evaluation data to improve the learning environment. The assessment of student learning outcomes, as you learned in module 5, should be integrated through the actual assignments. However, there are other potential sources of information that can aid in evaluating the overall quality and effectiveness of the course. It is recommended that instructors gather information from several different sources in order to increase the validity of the evaluation results and to ensure that decisions about course revisions are evidence-based.
In this last module you will gain experience in designing student learning assessments as well as course evaluation strategies. As you reflect on your learning experience in this course and provide feedback for improvement for this course, you will reflect on how assessment and evaluation can be applied to your own disciplinary area. In part A you will learn about the difference between assessment and evaluation and provide evaluation data to improve this course. In part B you will then focus on your own flipped course plan and outline assessment and evaluation ideas for your own context. In part C you will learn how to design an evaluation plan that you can use to monitor continuous improvement in your course.
Module 6 Objectives:
At the end of this module you will have:
- Module 6A Objective -- Reflected on your own experiences as a learner in this course and provided feedback data for improving this course design on flipping the classroom
- Module 6B Objective -- Aligned assessments with the flipped ideas, activities or course you have designed
- Module 6C Objective -- Reflected on and designed strategies for evaluating your flipped classroom environment
