Waves through the Air
Today we will learn about electromagnetic (EM) waves and how they propagate through the air. We'll talk about the power link budget, which helps us figure out how much power (bars!) you need to get a signal from here to there.
Learning Objectives
- What are electromagnetic waves, and how do they propagate through the air?
- How do you calculate how much power you need using a power link budget?
Pre-Class Assignment
- Not required, but here's an interesting initial introduction to electromagnetic waves

NOTE: We will provide a number of online resources, some of which may be corporate sites that are advertising services or products. Using these sites as our references should IN NO WAY imply that we are promoting these companies. In some cases, we will even provide conflicting or debatable sites for the purpose of generating thought and discussion.

- Describe all the things EM waves can do ... like reflection, transmission, attenuation, etc. (turn in a list and short description of everything waves can do)
