Extra Credit Assignment (10 pts):
What's the Power in Your Room?
Instructions
In the room where you live, survey the things plugged in regularly (AT LEAST 5).
- Find the voltage and current ratings or the power rating for each device. Look on the plug, or the internet. Include information on where you obtain your information.
- Add up their power draw when turned on, and the duty cycle (your light is not on 24 hrs a day).
- Estimate the peak power need (watts) as well as the total energy per day (kWh).
- If everything in your room is turned on at the same time, would you expect to trip your circuit breaker? (Go look at your circuit breaker if possible, and take a picture). Estimate how many more things could you have in your room without overloading it?
