WHERE: This week's Lab can be done at home. If you get stuck, and need assistance, visit any TA session for ECE 1045 or 1245 (See ECE 1245 home page for a list of times and locations.)
SPECIAL NOTE FOR LAB 1:
- If you are in ECE 1050 and 1245 -- Attend both 1050 and 1245 lab sessions, and do all of ECE 1245 Lab 1 the first week. If you need additional time or assistance, attend another (any) lab session the following week. Then, do all of ECE 1050 Lab M1 (interactive online tutorial) on your own. If you get stuck or need additional help, visit any TA in any lab session either week.
- If you are in ECE 1050 only -- Do all of ECE 1050 Lab 1 (interactive online tutorial) on your own, no need to attend lab sessions either week. If you get stuck or need additional help, visit any TA in any lab session either week.
- If you are in ECE 1245 only -- You may attend both lab sessions (ECE 1050 and ECE 1245) the first week to do all of ECE 1245 Lab 1, OR you may attend your ECE 1245 lab session each week, and complete Lab 1 over a 2 week period.
WHAT's MATLAB? Matlab software will be used throughout the labs in this class, and many other labs and courses in the ECE curriculum. It is also commonly used in industry. EVEN IF you plan to use an alternative language in this class, please go through the Matlab OnRamp, so that you have basic familiarity with Matlab.
In this Lab, you will:
- ECE 1050:
- Complete the Matlab OnRamp online interactive tutorial to learn the basics of Matlab.
- Use Matlab to write a program to find the total resistance, and the voltages and currents in series and parallel resistive circuits.
Materials Needed: (you should have acquired these in Lab 0)
- ECE 1050:
- Access to MATLAB OnRamp Links to an external site. (does not require access to Matlab)
- Access to Matlab (to complete the assignment).
Resources:
MATLAB OnRamp Links to an external site.(Should take about 2 hours to complete)
DUE: Labs are due the next time you attend lab, so this lab is due when you attend Lab 2.
