Extra Credit 9 - How a Cell Phone Works

Explore how your cell phone works:

1) Read How Mobile Phone Communication works Links to an external site.

2) Read What's Inside a Digital Cell Phone Links to an external site.

3) Look up the specs on your phone on PhoneScoop Links to an external site. or a similar site.  Use the glossary on PhoneScoop (or other) to understand all of the terms used in the spec.

4) Find the Field Test Mode Links to an external site. on your phone, and use it to evaluate areas where you live, work, and play for high and low cell phone coverage.  Describe what you find.  For example (you don't have to answer all questions, but consider ...) What areas are highest/lowest?  Does it matter if you are inside a building or not?  In the basement?  Far from cell phone towers?  Are there areas where you commonly experience dropped calls, and if so, how is their cell phone coverage?  Are there places with high coverage that still drop calls?
