Text ## Lecture (L2-1) Ohm's Law
Application of the Day: Sea Ice Electrical Modeling and Measurement
This is a zoomed-in picture of the brine channels in a sample of sea ice. The brine pockets are very salty and highly conductive. (Is their resistance high or low?) The areas between the brine pockets are filled with pure ice that is much less salty, and barely conductive (Is this resistance high or low?)
- Where would you expect current to flow in this model?

Questions of the Day (Learning Objectives)
-
What is Ohm's Law, and how do you apply it?
-
What are Resistance, Conductivity and Resistivity? What is resistance used for?
-
What are typical ranges of conductivity for conductors, semiconductors, and insulators? (See Table 2-1)
