Length of Activity:10 Minutes

Supplies:

  • 2 pieces of red licorice
  • 5-10 toothpicks
  • Colorful mini marshmallows (the fruit flavored one for example)

Follow Along Below

Written Instructions (Printable PDF) 

  1. Push one end of your toothpick through a piece of licorice
  2. Push a red and orange marshmallow through the toothpick
  3. Use the other end of your toothpick to push the other piece of licorice onto the opposite side
  4. Repeat step 1 with a different toothpick but the same two pieces of licorice
  5. Repeat step 2 with a green and yellow marshmallow
  6. Repeat step 3
  7. Continue this process and alternate with red and orange marshmallow combination with the green and yellow
  8. When you reach the middle of your licorice cross one side over the other and push them together
  9. Continue this toothpick process below the crossed section
