This experiment will allow you to observe a cloud close up and help us understand how clouds are formed!

Parental Warnings: Hot water

Supplies:

  • Jar with a lid
  • 1/3 cup of hot water
  • 3-4 Ice cubes
  • Hairspray

Written Instructions (Printable PDF

  1. Open up your jar and pour in your 1/3 cup of hot water
  2. Swirl water around to allow it to get on the sides of the jar
  3. Flip lid upside down and place on top of the jar
  4. Place ice cubes on lid and allow to rest for 20 seconds
  5. Quickly remove lid and spray a little bit of hairspray into the jar
  6. Put the lid with the ice back on top of the jar
  7. After you see the cloud form, take the lid off and watch the cloud come out of the jar
