Instructions

Paint an ordinary rock to transform it into your very own pet lady bug!

Length of Activity: 1 hour

Supplies:

  • Paint colors: red, white and black (or other colors if you'd like a colorful ladybug)
  • Paintbrushes
  • Water Cup
  • Paper Towels (optional) 
  • Paper or Glass Plate 
  • A round rock with a flat side 
  • Pencil w/ Eraser

  1. Gather the materials
  2. Place the paints you will be using on the paper plate
  3. Color your rock the base color of the lady bug, for traditional lady bug, use red.
  4. Wait for that to dry
  5. Then take black and paint one end in an oval shape, to make the head
  6. Take the eraser of the pencil and make dots on the rest of the rock for the body
  7. Wait for that to dry
  8. Using white paint, take the eraser of a pencil and make two dots for eyes on the head
  9. Wait for that to dry (you can gently blow on it to help it dry faster)
  10. Then take the end of a paintbrush, which is smaller, and make one more dot on the center of the white circle to complete the eye
  11. Wait for it to dry then you can put it in the garden or in your room to play with!
  12. Now you have your very own pet lady bug!
