Help butterflies feel welcome in your backyard with this nectar that is sure to make them come back!

Parental Warning: Scissor  and stove use

Supplies:

  • Sponge
  • 1 cup of water
  • 1/4 cup of granulated sugar
  • Twine/string
  • Pot
  • Knife

  1. Bring the 1 cup of water to boil.
  2. Stir in the sugar until it is dissolved.
  3. Remove the pot from the heat and allow to cool completely.
  4. While the syrup is cooling, cut your sponge into 4 squares. 
  5. Cut a hole into the top of 4 squares and into the bottom of three of them
  6. Thread your twine/string through the sponges and tie at the top so it can hang.
  7. Put the sponges inside the syrup and allow the sponges to drip off the excess to avoid ants.
  8. Hang up in your backyard.
