Lecture (L4-1) Op-Amp Characteristics

  • Due Oct 17, 2018 by 11:59pm
  • Points None
Question of the Day:
  • What is an Op-Amp?
  • What is the linear range of the op-amp?
  • What is the difference between the op-amp gain (A) and circuit gain (G)?
  • How is an op-amp used as a switch?  (what values can it switch to?)
  • An op-amp is characterized by three important input/output attributes. What are they?
  • What is the equivalent circuit model for an op-amp (working in the linear range)?
  • What is an ideal op amp, and what approximations can we use?

Introduction: An operational amplifier (op amp) is one of the most widely-used components in electrical engineering.  Op amps can be built into circuits to amplify/de-amplify, compare, add, subtract, multiply (that's amplify), and divide (that's deamplify) a voltage.
