This article (Links to an external site.) on "failure initiatives" at several U.S. colleges and universities as responses to rising anxiety levels among higher-education students appeared in The New York Times on June 24, 2017. (I wasn't sure if posting the article and this discussion just before an exam was appropriate, so I delayed both by a week.) What kinds of experiences have you had with failure as a student? Is failure something we (university professors/administrators and/or society as a whole) should encourage, at least to some extent? What suggestions do you have for ways the University of Utah can address these issues?
