 Overview

This week we will begin discussing the structure in the Universe.

By the end of this week, you should be able to:

• Describe what is the cosmic microwave background.
• Explain why Hubble's law and observations of the cosmic microwave background indicate that there was a hot, dense beginning to the universe.
• Describe the proposed connection between the accelerating universe and dark energy.

Make sure that you complete the following:

• Attend lectures on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 9:10am (JFB 101)
• Complete Reading and Reading quizzes before lectures (listed in Activities below)
• Complete the homework assignment (listed in Activities below)
