Week 10 Overview
Overview
By the end of this week, you should be able to:
- describe how the evolution of high-mass stars differs from the evolution of low-mass stars.
- list the stages of evolution of high-mass stars, and explain the origin of chemical elements heavier than iron.
- describe the differences between Newton's and Einstein's theory of gravity.
Make sure that you complete the following:
- Attend lecture on Tuesday and Thursday at 9:10am (JFB 101)
- Complete Reading and Reading quizzes before lectures (listed in Activities below)
- Complete the homework assignment (listed in Activities below)
- The second midterm will be Thursday, March 27: please review all material from Chapters 5 and 10-13 of Understanding Our Universe. The material from chapters 5.4-5.6 will not be included in the midterm. I have uploaded a study guide Download study guide of concepts to be covered in this first exam.
