Week 4 Overview
Overview
This week we will be focusing on Kepler's laws, orbits, and on contributions to astronomy made by Johannes Kepler, Galileo Galilei, Isaac Newton, and others.
By the end of this week, you should be able to:
- be able to explain how the motions of the moon leads to phases and eclipses.
- be able to describe Kepler's laws of planetary motion.
- be able to list Newton's laws of motion.
- combine motion and gravitation to explain planetary orbits.
- explain the concept of frame of reference.
Make sure that you complete the following:
- Attend lectures on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 9:10am (JFB 101).
- Complete reading and reading quizzes before lectures (listed in Activities below).
- Complete the homework assignment (listed in Activities below).
