Text B.S./B.A. in Educational Psychology

The BA/BS degree in Educational Psychology will provide students with training and expertise in behavioral mental health, services desperately needed locally and nationally. The coursework and work-based learning experiences lead directly to competitive, high-demand employment opportunities including certification as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) and Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCaBA). In addition to learning about the general theories of counseling and mental health; this degree teaches specific individual and group counseling interventions so that students leave with both theory and skills. Students will not only be prepared to enter the job market upon graduation but will also have the knowledge and skills to enter graduate programs - especially those within educational psychology.

Bachelor Degree Program

The Educational Psychology Program prepares students for the real-world application of applied behavior analysis with a multicultural approach. Course content allows students to challenge and reflect on their own values, attitudes, and beliefs while applying multicultural sensitivity, responsiveness, knowledge, and understanding to all aspects of their work.

This program does not lead to a Utah teaching license, but does lead to careers that may be in the public schools.

Students completing this program must meet University requirements including:

- 122 Credit hours to graduate

- 40 Upper Division credits

- Minimum 2.0 gpa

All classes must meet University minimum grade requirements.

Why Educational Psychology?

Broad Educational Psychology Core: Provides students with a foundation in learning, human development, social-emotional skills, research and inquiry in education, the psychology of multiculturalism, and the use of technology as an instructional design tool.
Applied Curriculum: Helps students develop skills in individual and group counseling, behavior change, consultation, collaboration, problem-solving, evidence-based decision making, and recognizing psychopathology.
Work-Based Learning: Students translate classroom knowledge into real-world skills by participating in two supervised practica relevant to their interests and identified career path.
