This committee’s goals include advocating for representation and diversity in the School of Biological Sciences by meaningfully participating in the telling of student and postdoc stories, organizing the annual Diversity Fellows Program, pushing for diversity in faculty hiring and selection of visiting speakers, and fostering an anti-racist, anti-sexist, anti-homophobic, anti-ableist culture in the School of Biological Sciences. Last year, the group organized and implemented the first annual Diversity Fellows Program, a workshop weekend designed to distribute resources and cover skills necessary for applying to biology graduate programs. This year, we will continue this work and implement some new initiatives in SBS while working in collaboration with the multi-level Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee.
