Evolution Reading Club

Evolution reading club is a grad student group that meets bi-weekly to discuss group-selected papers and books via zoom.

Group Bio

Do you wish there were more opportunities for exciting discussions on a wide range of biological topics with your fellow graduate students? If so, come join the evolution reading club to fraternize with students from both sides of the department. We are focused on evolution as the connecting link between MCEB and EEOB. We meet twice a month over zoom (and someday in person) and drinks, to discuss papers and books that we as the group have selected together. Generally, one graduate student is in charge of putting together a brief presentation (a few slides) to help facilitate an intriguing discussion. We encourage all grad students but especially first-years to come meet and stay connected with graduate students from older years and different fields. Please join us this upcoming year as we do our best to stay connected during this socially-distanced time.

How to get involved

Evolution reading club meets biweekly over zoom. Please email either Marlen Rice (marlen.rice@utah.edu) or Joey Cauceglia (j.cauceglia@gmail.com) to get on the evolution reading club emailing list. We generally send out articles or book chapters two weeks in advance of our meetings to allow everyone a chance to read the material and fully participate in the group discussion. We look forward to seeing you zoom!
