Introduction

Use the material below to learn about Bode Plots. The assessments will help you understand if you understand the concept or not. Note that each assessment can only be attempted 3 times and may change for each attempt. Therefore, utilize the programs in the material below to practice before taking the assessments. Once you feel confident in the material, take the quiz. You only the chance to take the quiz once.

DECIBEL

Goal: Understand decibels and how they relate to sound. Be able to convert between dB and electric units.

BODE PLOT INTRODUCTION

Goal: Understand Bode Plots and what they are. Be able to achieve the transfer function from a circuit.

Bode plots can be used to interpret how the input affects the output in both magnitude and phase over frequency.

BODE PLOTS (APPROXIMATION METHOD)

Goal: Be able to create Bode Plots when given a transfer function without having to plot every single point on the graph. This is also called a straight line approximation method.

Video Solution: Note that around 2:30 there is an error in writing the current summation for the node Vx. It should be (Vx-2)/30 and V1 should be -(Vx-2)*20/30. Vth should equal -10.8V.
