These beautiful suncatchers are not only fun to make but look amazing when the light hits them!

Supplies:

  • 4 Blank CDs
  • Fishing line
  • Paintbrushes
  • Paint
  • Sharpies/paint pens
  • Scissors
  • Packing tape

Written Instructions (Printable PDF)

  1. Start by using your scissors to scratch the foiled side of the CD.
  2. Rip off a piece of tape and stick it to the scratch you made.
  3. Pull the tape off and watch the foil go with it.
  4. Continue to use the tape to pull the rest of the foil off so the CD is clear.
  5. Once all the CD have the foil removed, paint and draw on the CDs.
  6. After the CDs have dried, put one end of the fishing line through the middle of one of the CDs and tie a knot at the top of the CD.
  7. To add another CD, put the end of the fishing line through the middle and put it through the middle again the opposite way.
  8. Continue that process until all the CDs are on the line.
  9. Tie a circle at the top of the line to allow it to hang.
  10. Hang near a window and observe the rainbows and light that shines through the CDs.
