Flip-A-Dendum - Module 1
On this addendum page at the end of each module we will post:
- Link to a Burning Question of the Week, a one question anonymous survey based on some things that come up during the module. We ask that you take the one question survey and at the end of the week we will post the excel spreadsheet with all of the data we collected on that question on the addendum page so you too will have the data about flipping you can take back to your institutions.
- Tips and strategies on using Canvas and some explanations about why we are doing what we are doing with Canvas to help you think about how you could use Canvas or a tool like Canvas for your courses
- Plans for changes we are making as we adapt to your needs as we go along
- New links and resources contributed by you that have been posted in the discussion forum so you will have all of those awesome resources in one place and won't need to scroll through the lengthy discussion forums each week to find that link again
- Instructor insights we are having about the course so we can be as transparent as possible about what we are seeing and hope these insights might help you in your MOOC or flipped course planning

1. Burning Question of the Week
Our burning question about this course has to do with your interests. As we go through the course we will be adjusting content and structure to accommodate your needs so we will be asking a few questions. here are some questions that have come up for us:
- One questions survey about the course Links to an external site. - what will keep you engaged in this MOOC course?
- Of all that you have read and watched this week, what is the one big "best practice" recommendation you think needs to considered when flipping your course? Links to an external site. We will compile these and come back to these as move across the course

2. Tips and Strategies
- For each discussion board there is a search field at the beginning of the board on the top of the page, use that to help filter discussions and find what you are looking for.
- Here is a very short tutorial Links to an external site.to show you where the search feature is. When you have over 200 posts that span multiple pages it helps to use the search feature when you are looking for something in particular
- Also I used Jing Links to an external site., a free product, in case you want to check that out - it only does up to a 5 minute video so it helps you keep the videos nice and short!

3. Adaptations and Changes
- We have divided the discussions next week into disciplinary and topic areas to make it easier to post and find information specific to your area. So find the sub-post that matches the area you are teaching in or the area you are interested in and post there. It will help us organized information better.
- Think about best practices as you read. We are talking about trying to compile a best practices list for flipping as we go so you will have a take-away at the end of the course to take back to your institutions!

5. MOOC and Flipping Insights
- Wow - look at all the K-12 folks on board!! Due to the nature of this MOOC project an NSF grant for Higher Ed STEM faculty we are surprised
- Other than the graphics on the overview page for each module I think we need some graphics. I hate to add graphics for graphics sake but I will work on trying to find some creative commons images relevant for the module pages
- Because there were so many questions about how to get started with flipping (of course! I should have anticipated this :), I added a page of Dr. Furse advice on getting started with flipping: HERE
- Main themes: how to get students to prepare for the flipped classroom, seems to be a main buy in for the flipped classroom, many different disciplines and examples of what people are doing,
Wordle of the Module 1A,B,C discussions (learning and time being the 2 most popular words!)
